Two men died in two motorcycle accidents in Charles County on Sunday, one occurring when a stolen car hit a biker in a head-on collision and the other when a cyclist lost control at a curve, police reported.

Before the first wreck, a group of six motorcyclists had been driving together through Bryans Road, according to Diane Richardson, spokeswoman for the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. At about 12:27 p.m., one of the cyclists, Marc Elliott Gant, lost control of his bike as he rounded a bend in the 7200 block of Bumpy Oak Road. Gant’s bike went over an embankment before sliding to a stop.

A woman riding behind Gant also lost control and crashed her bike, Richardson reported.

Gant, 47, of Fort Belvoir, Va., was pronounced dead at Civista Medical Center. Rescue workers flew the woman to Prince George’s Hospital Center, where she is being treated for serious injuries, according to Richardson.

In the second crash, a teen in a stolen car drove over the center line of Billingsley Road at Cattle Place near White Plains and hit a motorcyclist traveling in the opposite direction, according to Richardson. The teen driver and four passengers of the 2003 Volkswagen Jetta fled on foot from the crash, Richardson reported.

The biker, Anthony Craig Trilli, 47, of Indian Head, was pronounced dead on the scene of the 3:04 p.m. accident.

Authorities learned that the Jetta had been reported stolen in Indian Head the day before the crash.

Police found the five Jetta occupants near Bensville Park about 30 minutes after the accident. The driver, 16, and four passengers, two 19 year olds, a 16 year old and a 14 year old, were arrested, Richardson said.

Charges are pending against the teens, all of whom are from Charles County, she said.
